皇后 美智子さま、お一人でベルギー元王妃の国葬へ
両陛下とベルギー国王 茨城へ
天皇皇后両陛下は、国賓として日本を訪れているベルギーのフィリップ国王夫妻を案内して、茨城県結城市を訪問されました。
両陛下は１２日正午過ぎ、国王夫妻と共にＪＲ結城駅前の多目的施設に到着し、両国の小旗を持って出迎えたおよそ６０００人の人たちに笑顔で手を振って応えられました。
施設では、歓迎セレモニーが行われ地元の中学校の吹奏楽部員たちがベルギーで１９６０年代にヒットし、日本でも親しまれた「サン・トワ・マミー」を披露しました。
このあと両陛下は、国王夫妻と共にユネスコの無形文化遺産に登録されている「結城紬」の機織りの実演を見学されました。
結城紬は、すべての工程が手作業で行われるのが特徴で、保存会の会員が「地機」と呼ばれる日本で最も古い型の織機を足で操作し、反物を織り上げるとフィリップ国王は「織るのにはどのくらい時間がかかるのですか」などと質問していました。
またマチルド王妃は、完成した反物を見ながら皇后さまと親しく言葉を交わし、「とても繊細ですね」などと話していました。
１３日は、国王夫妻が一連の歓迎に対するお礼のコンサートを開き、両陛下や皇族方が出席されることになっています。

天皇皇后両陛下とベルギー国王ご夫妻に伝統工芸品の「結城紬」の説明にあたった結城紬の職人で、「本場結城紬技術保持会」の野村寛司会長は、「陛下からは、『一反織り上がるまでの期間はどれくらいになりますか』とご質問があり、『半年から１年かかります』と答えました。また、『これからも続けていってほしい』というお言葉もいただき、後世に引き継ぎたいという思いが強くなりました」と話していました。
また、ご一行は、げたやタンスなど地元特産の桐製品もご覧になり、結城桐製品組合の柳田幸夫組合長は、「天皇陛下はベルギー国王に、『桐は軽くて履き心地がいいんだ』とわれわれがする説明を先にしていただきました。さらに精進を重ねなければならないと思いました」と話していました。
歓迎のセレモニーでは、結城市で２００年以上続く伝統の神楽が披露され、天皇陛下とベルギー国王への説明にあたった結城市教育委員会の小林仁教育長は、「すばらしい機会をいただけたことに感激しています。天皇陛下の神楽への造詣の深さに驚きました」と話していました。
神楽を披露した須藤克己さんは、「光栄のひと言です。踊っている時は無心であっという間でした。
ベルギー国王からすばらしいパフォーマンスだったと言われ、神楽をやっていくうえでの誇りになりました」と話していました。
また、歓迎のセレモニーで、日本語の歌詞でも親しまれたベルギーのヒット曲、「サン・トワ・マミー」を演奏した結城中学校吹奏楽部の部長の松尾衿菜さんは、「１か月間練習をしてきて一番の演奏を披露することができました。皇后さまから、来年のコンクールもがんばってくださいとお声をかけていただき、うれしかったです」と話していました。
また、演奏のまとめ役、コンサートミストレスを務めた大竹佑佳さんは、「ベルギー国王夫妻に母国の曲を聴いていただきたいという気持ちで演奏しました。『たくさん練習したんでしょ』と声をかけていただきました。これからも吹奏楽をがんばっていきたいです」と話していました。

「危機感」をもった母冨美さんは、急きょ美智子さんを海外に出そうと決める。聖心女子大幹部と相談して、近くベルギーである国際的な聖心女子大の同窓会日本代表として派遣することにした。アメリカにも渡る予定で、9月頭に出発して11月頭に帰国する予定だった。

皇后さまは１２日夜、日本とイタリアの国交１５０周年を記念するオペラ公演を鑑賞された。
皇后さまは１２日夜、都内で行われたオペラ「ジャパン・オルフェオ」の後半を鑑賞された。この公演は日本・イタリア国交１５０周年を記念するもので、ギリシャ神話を下敷きにした１７世紀のイタリアオペラ「オルフェオ」の物語が、日本の古事記の「イザナミとイザナギ」の神話に似ていることに着目し、能と日本舞踊、雅楽を演出に取り入れ、イタリア人と日本人の混成チームで上演された。
公演には２０１４年、群馬県草津町で皇后さまのピアノ伴奏で共演したイタリア人歌手ベルタニョッリさんも出演していて、皇后さまはベルタニョッリさんに「２つの文化の融合にとても感動しました」と話されたという。
