4日放送の「ミヤネ屋」で、宮根誠司氏がデーブ・スペクターのギャグの使い方に説教をする一幕があった。
番組では「2014年の親記録」を振り返り、ホンダの乗用芝刈り機が世界最速記録となる「時速187.6キロ」を樹立した話題を取り上げた。
宮根氏はデーブに「液晶だ、タブレットだって外国の名前が出てますけど、ものづくりって日本すごいなって思いますよね」と訊ねると「これはほんとに『しばしば』見たいものなんですけど」と、唐突にダジャレを発した。
その直後、付加価値があって会社のPRとなり、日本のイノベーションは最先端にあるというメッセージ効果もあるとデーブは解説した。
すると間髪入れずに宮根氏は「だから、それ（まじめなコメント）を先に言って『しばしば』を後につけたほうが僕らもウケやすいけど、最初に駄洒落を言って、間もなくまともなことを言うからツッコミもできない」とデーブにダメ出しをはじめた。
