ボストン10+ 件連続爆破テロの２容疑者のおじで、米メリーランド州に住むルスラン・ツァルニ氏は１９日、親族として「恥ずかしい」と述べた上で、逃走中のジョハル・ツァルナエフ容疑者に「出頭して許しを請え」と呼び掛けた。
自宅前でメディアの取材に応じたツァルニ氏は「われわれはイスラム教徒であり、チェチェン人だ」と述べ、このことは事件に一切関係がないと強調。イスラム社会やチェチェン人社会を差別的な目で見ないでほしいと訴えた。
インタファクス通信によると、ツァルニ氏は米ＣＮＮテレビに「（兄弟のうち兄の）タメルランとは家族の問題が理由で数年間会っていない。だが（事件の）前に許しを乞う電話があり、近く会いに来るはずだった」と証言した。弟は「穏やかで静かな若者」と述べた。同氏によると、２人は２０００年か０１年に米国に来た。両親はロシアにいるという。
容疑者のロシア在住の父親アンゾル・ツァルナエフ氏はインタファクスなどの電話取材に応じ「（兄は）殺さずに生きて捕まえるべきだった」と述べた。
父親は「特殊部隊が私の子供たちを犯人にした。息子たちは敬虔（けいけん）なイスラム教徒だ。弟は米国の医科大学の２年生で、休日に兄弟で会いに来るはずだった」と語った。（共同）

東京都中央卸売市場築地市場（中央区）で、マグロの解体に使う包丁（刃渡り約70センチ）で警察官に切り付けようとしたとして、
警視庁築地署は19日、殺人未遂などの疑いで、中野区中野の職業不詳、自称根上隆容疑者（63）を現行犯逮捕した。
同署によると、「正当防衛で逮捕は不当だ」などと供述しているという。
逮捕容疑は19日午前8時10分ごろ、築地市場内で、「殺してやる」などと叫びながら包丁を振り回し、
築地署地域課の男性巡査部長（59）に切り掛かるなどした疑い。巡査部長にけがはなかった。
