米英日豪ニュージーランド、新たな協力枠組み「PBP」を発足

米国、英国、日本、オーストラリア、ニュージーランドは、協力の枠組み「パートナー・イン・ザ・ブルー・パシフィック（PBP）」を立ち上げた。米ホワイトハウスが発表した共同声明で述べられている。

ホワイトハウスの声明には「本日（24日）、我々5カ国は、太平洋の優先課題をより効果的かつ効率的に支援するための包括的な非公式の枠組み『パートナーズ・イン・ブルーパシフィック（PBP）』を発足させた」と述べられている。

この枠組みは、特に太平洋地域主義を支援し、太平洋諸国および他の国々との協力を強化することを目的とすると指摘されている。

また、時事通信の報道によると、同地域への影響力拡大を図る中国を牽制する狙いがあるとみられており、気候変動対策や海洋安全保障などの分野で協力を深めていく方針。
