• Maryland's Republican Gov. Larry Hogan and GOP Rep. Adam Kinzinger were among the first Republicans to be critical of President Donald Trump's remarks 
• Trump stood in the White House briefing room and alleged a conspiracy by 'big media, big money and big tech' was waged against him 
• 'STOP Spreading debunked misinformation...,' Kinzinger tweeted. 'This is getting insane.' 
• Hogan said there was 'no defense for the president's comments tonight undermining our Democratic process' 
• Former GOP senators Rick Santorum and Jeff Flake were also critical of Trump's actions

Chris Christie, the former governor of New Jersey and a Trump ally, accused the President of 'inflaming without informing' urging him to 'show us the evidence.' 

Larry Hogan, Republican governor of Maryland, said there is 'no defense' for Trump's comments, adding: 'No person is more important than democracy.' 

And Adam Kinzinger, a Republican representative from Illinois, added: 'If you have legit concerns about fraud present EVIDENCE and take it to court. 

'STOP Spreading debunked misinformation... This is getting insane.'

 Christie was born in Newark, New Jersey, to Sondra A. (née Grasso), a telephone receptionist, and Wilbur James "Bill" Christie, a certified public accountant who graduated from Rutgers Business School.^[4][5][6] His mother was of Italian (Sicilian) ancestry, and father is of German, Scottish, and Irish descent.^{[7][8][9][10][11]} Christie's family moved to Livingston, New Jersey, after the 1967 Newark riots,^[12] and Christie lived there until he graduated from Livingston High School in 1980.^[13] At Livingston High School, Christie served as class president, played catcher for the baseball team,^[12] and was selected as a New Jersey Representative to the United States Senate Youth Program.

Christie's father and mother were Republican and Democratic, respectively. He has credited, however, his Democratic-leaning mother for indirectly making him a Republican by encouraging him in 1977 to volunteer for the gubernatorial candidate who became his role model, Tom Kean.^[5] Christie had become interested in Kean after the politician, then a state legislator, spoke to Christie's junior high school class.^[12]

Christie graduated from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Arts in political science in 1984; while there, he served as president of the student body.^[14] He graduated from Seton Hall University School of Law with a J.D. in 1987. He was admitted to the New Jersey State Bar Association and the Bar of the United States District Court, District of New Jersey, in December 1987. He was awarded honorary doctorate degrees by Rutgers University and Monmouth University in 2010.^[15][16]
