クリス・リードさん急逝 フィギュアスケートのアイスダンス日本代表で3度の五輪に出場 日本で指導のため荷物送った直後
フィギュアスケートのアイスダンスで日本代表として3度の五輪に出場したクリス・リードさんが15日午前0時20分、米デトロイトで死去したことが17日、分かった。
30歳だった。心臓突然死と診断された。
リードさんは昨年末に現役引退を発表、「新しい目標が見え始めた」と後進の指導に当たる考えを示していた。
今月11日につづられたブログでは、姉のキャシーさん（32）とともに日本でアイスダンスの指導をするため、アパートの荷物を日本に送ったことが報告され、
「これからキャシーといっしょに日本のアイスダンスをニューエイジにする あたらしい むずかしい ジャーニーのはじまりです たのしみだよ！」
と希望に胸を膨らませていたものの、新型コロナウイルスの感染拡大で
「日本にいくのがおくれます。はやくコロナウィルスがなくなってほしいな.....みんなきをつけてね」とつづっていた。
父が米国人、母が日本人のリードさんは姉のキャシーさんと組んで2010年バンクーバー、14年ソチ冬季五輪に出場。
村元哉中とコンビを組んだ18年平昌五輪は日本勢過去最高に並ぶ15位に入った。
