北部ハザン省に住む女性（６３）が１月初頭、３ヶ月に渡り偏頭痛に苦しんでいると医師に訴えた。女性は、時おり咳をして血の混じった唾液を吐くと語った。慎重な検査の結果、喉に腫瘍があると診断を下され、切除手術に取り掛かった。
だが手術中、医師らは喉に巨大なヒルを発見した。寄生しながらまだ生きていたヒルは３０分かけて体内から摘出された。

Allen Leech (born 18 May 1981) is an Irish actor best known for his role as Tom Branson on the historical drama series Downton Abbey. He made his professional acting debut with a small part in a 1998 production of A Streetcar Named Desire, made his first major film appearance as Vincent Cusack in Cowboys & Angels, and earned an Irish Film & Television Awards nomination in 2004 with his performance as Mo Chara in Man About Dog. Leech was born in Killiney, County Dublin, to David Leech, the CEO of a computer systems company, and Kay Leech, a housewife.^[1] He is the third of four children;^[2] he has an older brother, Greg, an older sister, Ali, and a younger brother, Simon.^[3] He attended St Michael's College.^[1] Leech became interested in acting at 11 when he was given the part of the Cowardly Lion in a school production of The Wizard of Oz and found he loved being on stage.^[2] He recalled how he immediately decided to become an actor when Peter McDonald told him how acting is a profession on the last night of the production's run.^[2]

St Michael's College (Irish: Coláiste Naomh Mícheál) is an independent Catholic boys' school located on Ailesbury Road in Dublin 4, Ireland. It was founded in 1944 by the Holy Ghost Fathers.


The Congregation of the Holy Spirit (full title, Congregation of the Holy Spirit under the protection of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, or in Latin, Congregatio Sancti Spiritus sub tutela Immaculati Cordis Beatissimae Virginis Mariae, and thus abbreviated C.S.Sp.) is a Roman Catholic congregation of priests, lay brothers, and since Vatican II, lay associates. Congregation members are known as Spiritans in Continental Europe, and as the Holy Ghost Fathers in English-speaking countries, although even there they are becoming known as Spiritans. A Spiritan priest or brother has the abbreviation C.S.Sp. after his name.
Spiritans in the 1840s dedicated themselves to working with newly freed slaves on the islands of Haiti, Mauritius and Réunion. In East Africa, where most of the American Spiritans now serve, they began to work in the 1860s by buying men and women out of slavery in Zanzibar. They opened schools and hospitals, taught people marketable skills, and gave property to those who needed it. The Spiritans pioneered modern missionary activity in Africa and ultimately sent more missionaries there than any other religious institute in the Catholic Church.
In other countries, such as Mexico, the Spiritans were invited by the local Catholic bishops to minister to Catholics in remote areas where there were not enough diocesan priests to serve the growing numbers of faithful. Today, Mexican-born Spiritans outnumber Spiritan missionaries from other countries. The seminary program is a vital aspect of the Spiritan presence in Mexico.


Claude-François Poullart des Places, C.S.Sp. (26 February 1679 – 2 October 1709) was a French Catholic priest who founded the Congregation of the Holy Spirit in 1703 at the age of 24.^[1] The decree opening his cause of canonization was promulgated on 1 October 1989, but has not yet proceeded to his beatification.
Claude des Places, was born on 26 February 11679 in Rennes, France, the son of a French aristocrat, François des Places, and his wife, Jeanne le Meneust. He was baptized the next day. His father was one of the wealthiest businessmen in the city and enjoyed considerable standing in the community as an attorney in the Breton Parliament. Claude's mother also belonged to the aristocracy and, prior to her marriage, served as governess to the family of the President of the Provincial Parliament.^[2]
His family moved twice in his childhood. Following a relocation to Saint-Sauveur-en-Rue, des Places entered the Jesuit Collège Saint-Thomas in October 1690.^[1] He studied further under the Jesuits at their college in Rennes and Caen from 1693 to 1695.^[2] Among his friends was Louis Grignion de Montfort. Des Places led a mischievous adolescence: he once narrowly missed his sister with a shot from their father's revolver—he thought it was unloaded—when she was annoying him as he studied a role for a school play. He was nearly killed himself during a hunting trip, and got into a roadside brawl in Nantes.^[3] He was a talented student, however, and was the valedictorian of his class. For his remarkable graduation dissertation he was invited to Versailles as a guest of France's royal family.^[4]
