ラハイナ（ハワイ語：Lāhainā：ラーハイナー、英：Lahaina, Hawaii） とは、マウイ島にある一番大きな国勢調査指定地域(CDP)である。

当地はアメリカ合衆国ハワイ州マウイ郡、マウイ島の西半分に位置しており、有名なカアナパリ (Kaanapali)、地区の北にあるカパルア (Kapalua)ビーチ・リゾートへのゲートウェイとしても機能している。 2010年の米国勢調査（英語版）によると、このCDPは1万1704人の人口を擁している[1]。 ラハイナ地域は、マウイ島の道路であるRoute 30（英語版）沿いの海岸を含んでいる。 南は道路が通るトンネルから、オラワウ（Olawalu）を抜けて、北端はナピリ・ホノコワイ（英語版）地域までである。 一年の内、旅行者で賑わう繁忙期は、街の人口は4万を数える程に膨れ上がる事が有る。

ホノルルへの遷都をするまでは、ラハイナはハワイ王国の首都であった。 19世紀、ラハイナは世界的な捕鯨の中心地であり、沢山の帆船が港の中に停泊したものだった。 今日では、20隻ほどのプレジャーボートが港内に係留されている。 ラハイナのフロント・ストリート（Front Street、目抜き通り）は、アメリカ企画協会（英語版）から「世界の十大豪華商店街」"Top Ten Greatest Streets"のうちの一つにランクインするほど賑わっている。[2]

古代において、ラハイナは五代目のマウイ島の酋長（英語版）であるマウイ・ロア（英語版）がハワイ島の王(en)にハナの首長の座を明け渡した後の本拠地であった。 ラハイナの政治・経済の中心地はフロント・ストリート周辺である。 その始まりは1820年代に遡る。 通りに軒を並べた商店や食堂は、旅行客でごった返す大繁盛の活況を見せている。 バニヤン・ツリー・スクエア（Banyan Tree Square）は、並はずれて大きなバニヤン樹（英：Banyan tree）（ベンガルボダイジュ、学名：Ficus benghalensis）が植わっていることで有名である。 これは1873年4月24日にウィリアム・オーウェン・スミス（英語版）によってキリスト教宣教師の到着50周年を記念して植樹されたものである[3]。 ここは、1832年に創建した後に再建されたラハイナ砦の場所でもある。[4]

ラハイナには「レレ」（Lele）と言う旧名称がついていた。 「ラハイナ」（「ラー・ハイナー」Lā hainā）は現地の言葉で「灼熱の太陽」を意味する言葉である。 ハワイの熱帯性灌木林（英語版）が広がる、晴天続きで乾燥した気候を指してこのように言われている[5]。 ラハイナでの降水は年平均すると330mmしかない。 雨の大半は10月から年をまたいで2月に集中する。凡そ1903年から1910年にかけてに撮影したラハイナ

1795年、ハワイ諸島統一の前のこと、この街はカメハメハ大王による破壊略奪を受けた。 1820年から1845年にかけて、ラハイナはハワイ王国の首都であった[6]。 大王の息子カメハメハ三世は、騒々しいホノルルよりも、静かなこの街に住むほうを好んでいた。 彼は執務のための王宮を、街の中心地に程近い魚の養殖設備の中に浮かぶ、モクウラ島（英語版）の0.4haの土地に建てた[7]。ハワイでは古くから魚の養殖（英語版）が行われており、彼はそのMokuhiniaモクヒニアと呼ばれた養魚池の中島に宮殿を建て、執務をしていた。 1824年、酋長の要請で、 ベッツィー・ストックトン（英語版）は一般人に開かれた最初のミッションスクールを開設した。 ラハイナは19世紀の捕鯨船団にとって、一時重要な到着港となったことがあった。 ラハイナへ捕鯨船団が入港するとき、しばしば在住のキリスト教宣教師との衝突へと発展した。 ラハイナの街は捕鯨船から幾度にもわたって砲撃を受けた。

2023年8月、マウイ島に広がった山火事が市街地に延焼。ラハイナは大半が火災により破壊され、数百世帯が住居を追われた[8]。

"The Last Resort" is a song written by Don Henley and Glenn Frey, which imagines industry and commerce inevitably destroying beautiful places. It was originally released on the Eagles' album Hotel California on December 8, 1976.^[1] It was subsequently released as the B-side of "Life in the Fast Lane" single on May 3, 1977.

In a 1978 interview with Rolling Stone, Henley said: "'The Last Resort', on Hotel California, is still one of my favorite songs... That's because I care more about the environment than about writing songs about drugs or love affairs or excesses of any kind. The gist of the song was that when we find something good, we destroy it by our presence — by the very fact that man is the only animal on earth that is capable of destroying his environment. The environment is the reason I got into politics: to try to do something about what I saw as the complete destruction of most of the resources that we have left. We have mortgaged our future for gain and greed."^[2]
