メーガン妃が手掛けていたネットフリックスのアニメシリーズ「パール」の制作が経費節減を理由に中止

　メーガン妃が手掛けていた米動画配信大手・ネットフリックスのアニメシリーズ「パール」の制作が経費節減を理由に中止になったことが１日、明らかになった。
　米ＣＮＢＣによると、ネットフリックスは今年の第１四半期、創業以来初めて契約者数が減少し、株価も２５％を下がったことで新作の計画変更を余儀なくされ、メーガン妃の「パール」を含む数本の制作中止を決定した。

　ネットフリックスは今後もヘンリー王子＆メーガン妃が運営する制作会社アーチウェル・プロダクションとの関係を維持していくことを強調し、「パール」以外にも現在進行中のプロジェクトが数本あると指摘した。アーチウェルは２０２０年に同動画配信サービスとドキュメンタリーや映画、特別番組、子供番組などを制作することで、約１６０億円ともされる破格の複数年契約を結んだことで大きな話題となった。

「パール」はメーガン妃が創作し、映画監督のデビッド・ファーニッシュ氏とともに総合プロデューサーを務める予定だった。同作品はパールという名の１２歳の少女が歴史上の偉大な女性たちに出会い、影響を受けながら成長していく冒険物語となっていた。

　メーガン妃は昨年の制作発表で、「同世代の少女のように、日常生活で直面するさまざまな問題を解決しながら、この主人公は自分発見の旅に出ます」と説明していた。
