Unsolved death of a British teenager who was brutally murdered, mutilated and had her heart ripped out of her chest in China in 1937 leads to heated feud between authors over identity of killer

Pamela Werner, 17, murdered in 1937 in Peking while cycling home from ice rink
Author Paul French blamed US dentist and ex-marine in 2012 bestselling book
Former Scotland Yard detective Graeme Sheppard investigated the case himself
In his book, released last month, he suggests killer was Pamela's ex boyfriend and says French 'didn't do his homework'


Sheppard said Shou-ch'ing committed the murder and was the only suspect to disappear after Pamela's death.

The Chinese man was an ex of Pamela's and had come to blows with her disapproving father.

Shou-ch'ing had also been spotted at the skating rink three days before Pamela was found dead.

The most persuasive clue for Sheppard is that Pamela's heart was cut out and he claims that eating someone's heart is a 'little-known but genuine Chinese cultural love/hate practice'.
