Andrew George McCabe[1] (born May 5, 1968) is an American attorney who is the Deputy Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
From May 9, 2017 to August 2, 2017, McCabe was the Acting Director of the FBI after James Comey was dismissed by President Donald Trump. U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions stated that McCabe was one of several candidates under consideration for Director. President Trump ultimately chose Christopher A. Wray, the former Assistant Attorney General for the Justice Department's Criminal Division, to succeed Comey.[2] Once Wray was sworn in, McCabe returned to the position of Deputy Director.[3]McCabe graduated from The Bolles School in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1986.[4] He graduated from Duke University in 1990 and obtained a J.D. degree from Washington University in St. Louis in 1993.[5][1] During law school he interned in the criminal division of the United States Department of Justice.[5] Because of a hiring freeze,[5] McCabe spent three years in a private law practice before joining the FBI in 1996.[6]

ＦＢＩ副長官が辞任へ 中立性に疑問符 トランプ氏が批判
【ワシントン＝加納宏幸】米紙ワシントン・ポスト（電子版）は２３日、連邦捜査局（ＦＢＩ）のマケイブ副長官が数カ月後に退任する意向だと伝えた。年金を満額受給する資格ができる来年３月を待つという。トランプ大統領や与党・共和党はマケイブ氏と民主党の関係からロシアの米大統領選干渉疑惑捜査での中立性を疑問視してきた。トランプ氏は報道を受け、ツイッターでマケイブ氏を重ねて批判した。
マケイブ氏は今年５月にトランプ氏に解任されたコミー前ＦＢＩ長官の右腕として、民主党の大統領候補、クリントン元国務長官の私用メール問題やロシア疑惑の捜査に関わった。
だが、マケイブ氏をめぐっては、妻が民主党から２０１５年にバージニア州上院選に出馬した際、クリントン氏に近い州知事らから献金を受けた問題が判明した。そのため、トランプ氏はＦＢＩを所管する司法省のセッションズ長官がマケイブ氏を交代させないことに不満を漏らしてきた。
トランプ氏は２３日、ツイッターでマケイブ氏が年金の満額支給を待っているとの報道を紹介し、「捜査の最中にクリントン氏の操り人形たちから妻が７０万ドル（約７９００万円）をもらうなんて、どういうことかね？」と蒸し返した。
米メディアによると、ＦＢＩの法律顧問にも昨年１１月の大統領選直前、トランプ氏とロシアの結び付きを示す文書の存在を報じた左派メディアと接触した疑いがあり、ＦＢＩ内部で転任させられたという。
ロシア疑惑を捜査するモラー特別検察官のチームにいたＦＢＩのベテラン捜査官らが大統領選候補のトランプ氏を「ばか」と呼ぶメールをやり取りしたことも明るみに出ており、中立であるべき捜査機関側に分の悪い状況が続いている。
