Nerstrand United Methodist Church will host a presentation October 9 at 7 p.m. by Dr. Rolf Enger on The Shroud of Turin, a linen cloth believed by some to bear the image of Christ.

According to Dr. Enger, the Shroud of Turin is a linen cloth, approximately 14 feet long and 3 feet wide that contains a full front and back image of a man. Some believe this to be the image of Jesus Christ. Although the identity of the person imaged on the shroud will probably never be known, the image itself is of great interest and is distinctly unique. Not only does it record the likeness of a man, but it also contains information that enabled scientists and cadets at the Air Force Academy to construct a three-dimensional statue of the “Man of the Shroud”. No other image has ever been found with this characteristic. In addition, artists have been unable to duplicate an image with this quality. The shroud image also appears to be remarkably consistent with the Gospel accounts of the crucifixion of Jesus of Nazareth.

Dr. Enger, a Research Optical Physicist and Emeritus Professor of Physics, US Air Force Academy, will share the unsolved mysteries of the shroud and his thoughts on the importance of the Shroud of Turin for Christians around the world.

The presentation is open to the public, refreshments will be served following the presentation.
