Elizabeth Holmes, Theranos founder, sentenced to 11.25 years in prison

Elizabeth Holmes, founder and CEO of the collapsed Silicon Valley blood testing company, Theranos, has been sentenced to 11.25 years in prison plus three years supervised release for financial crimes she committed while running the once-high flying venture.

Holmes was also fined a $400 special assessment. Holmes must surrender to custody on April 27, 2023. Holmes is expected to appeal.

セラノス（英: Theranos）は、血液検査を手がけていたアメリカ合衆国カリフォルニア州の企業。2018年9月に解散を決定した^[1]。スタンフォード大学の化学工学科の2年生だったエリザベス・ホームズは、2003年に大学を中退、「少量の血液で200種類以上の血液検査を迅速かつ安価に出来る」というふれ込みで、医療ベンチャー企業『Theranos』を創業した^[2]。
