プーチン政権を支えるロシア与党が、ロシアで生産停止などを発表した企業の工場を国有化するよう提案した。
実行されれば、トヨタを含め、多くの企業が影響を受ける可能性がある。
これは、ロシア与党「統一ロシア」の公式ウェブサイトで、幹部のトゥルチャク氏の声明として発表されたもの。
この中でトゥルチャク氏は、「工場の生産停止や閉鎖は全て政治的な決定だ。
一夜にして解雇されたロシア人労働者も多い。企業の撤退は、ロシア国民に対しての戦争だ」として、
軍事侵攻を受けて、ロシア国内で生産停止や閉鎖を発表した企業の工場を国有化するよう提案した。
実行されれば、稼働停止を発表しているトヨタを含め、世界の多くの企業が影響を受ける可能性がある。

Biolab opens in Ukraine

U.S. Sen. Dick Lugar applauded the opening of the Interim Central Reference Laboratory in Odessa, Ukraine, this week, announcing that it will be instrumental in researching dangerous pathogens used by bioterrorists.
The level-3 bio-safety lab, which is the first built under the expanded authority of the Nunn-Lugar Cooperative Threat Reduction program, will be used to study anthrax, tularemia and Q fever as well as other dangerous pathogens.
“The continuing cooperation of Nunn-Lugar partners has improved safety for all people against weapons of mass destruction and potential terrorist use, in addition to advancements in the prevention of pandemics and public health consequences,” Lugar said.
Lugar said plans for the facility began in 2005 when he and then Senator Barack Obama entered a partnership with Ukrainian officials. Lugar and Obama also helped coordinate efforts between the U.S and Ukrainian researchers that year in an effort to study and help prevent avian flu.
The Nunn-Lugar Act, which established the Cooperative Threat Reduction Program, was established in 1991. Since that time it has provided funding and assistance to help the former Soviet Union dismantle and safeguard large stockpiles of nuclear, chemical and biological weapons. The program has also been responsible for destroying chemical weapons in Albania, Lugar said.

During the August recess of 2005, Lugar and then-freshman Senator Barack Obama of neighboring Illinois visited Russia, Azerbaijan, and Ukraine to inspect nuclear facilities there.[98] He was detained for three hours at an airport in the city of Perm, near the Ural Mountains, where they were scheduled to depart for a meeting with the President and the Speaker of the House of Ukraine. He was released after a brief dialogue between U.S. and Russian officials and the Russians later apologized for the incident. In January 2007, President Bush signed into law the Lugar–Obama Proliferation and Threat Reduction Initiative, which furthered Lugar's work with Senator Sam Nunn in deactivating weapons in the former Soviet Union. The Lugar–Obama program focuses on terrorists and their use of multiple types of weapons.[99] In April 2006, Time magazine selected Lugar as one of America's 10 Best Senators.[100]
Although Lugar's party was then in the minority in the Senate, he had good relationships with President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden. Lugar was named an honorary co-chairman of their inauguration.[101] On the day of the final 2008 presidential debate, Lugar gave a speech at the National Defense University praising Obama's foreign policy approach and warning against the isolationist, reactive policies espoused by John McCain.[102] At that debate, Obama also listed Lugar as among the individuals "who have shaped my ideas and who will be surrounding me in the White House".[103] There were rumors that either Obama or McCain would select Lugar to be Secretary of State, but that he preferred to keep his Senate seat.[99][104]

Uzbekistan opens two new disease laboratories

The labs will monitor disease outbreaks throughout central Asia’s most populous nation and aid the government in improving overall health in the country country. The labs were finished in December 2010 and are ready to receive modern equipment, according to CentralAsiaNewsWire.com.
The two structures cost $1.3 million to build and equip. They will also function as regional diagnostic centers. The U.S. Defense Threat Reduction Agency, which funded the project, will offer training courses for the lab’s workers on how to use and maintain the new equipment.
Representatives from Uzbekistan’s ministries of foreign affairs, defense, health and agriculture, and water, as well as DTRA, will be on hand to officially launch the new facilities, which are located in the Ferghana Valley cities of Ferghana and Andijan, CentralAsiaNewsWire.com reports.
The Ferghana Valley remains one of the most densely populated regions in central Asia, as well as one of the most potentially explosive. The valley is a patchwork of ethnic enclaves that do not fit easily within national borders.
