Brandon Andrew Watt@Cobourg is Gone

Brandon Andrew Watt

March 30, 1987 - November 4, 2021

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Brandon Watt of Cobourg at the age of 34.
Brandon leaves behind the absolute love of his life and his very best friend, Chantelle (Bowman), along with their two beautiful daughters, Lennon and Mara, to which Brandon was the most dedicated, involved and extraordinary father.
The young family was in the middle of building their “forever” home on land that had originally belonged to Chantelle’s grandparents — the property where they exchanged their wedding vows and planned to renew them in 2023.
Brandon also leaves behind his mother Jane (Mike), his father Lyndon (Step-mom Trish), brothers Michael (Samantha) and Tanner (Raina), sister Kiera, and paternal grandmother Doreen Watt. Brandon was a staple in his in-law’s family — Larry and Sue Bowman, Michelle (Gerry), Erica (Tyler) and the very best “Uncle B” to his niece Emery and nephew Tate.
Brandon was incredibly proud to have recently become an uncle to his brother Michael’s new baby boy, Callum, and already had plans to get a fishing rod into his tiny hands.
Brandon comes from a large family and will be remembered with love by many cousins, aunts and uncles, especially along the East Coast. Brandon valued loyal friendship and had a number of close friends who will miss him immensely.
Brandon grew up in Cobourg and graduated from Brock University. He then began what would become a 12-year career at Hamilton Township Mutual, where he was loved, valued and respected.
Besides his love for the people around him, Brandon had a great love of the outdoors. He took many trips to “Uncle Elwin’s camp” to hunt and Lingham Lake to fish, sharing some great stories and making even greater memories.
Brandon’s enthusiasm for life was contagious. He lit up the room with his easy jokes and comforting smile. He was kind and inquisitive. He was competitive yet protective. And boy, did he love to dance. When a country song came over the speaker, there was no stopping his feet from hitting the floor, regardless of who was watching.
His funeral will be held at Trinity United Church in Cobourg on Friday, November 12 at 11:00am (Doors open at 10:30am). No capacity limits but proof of vaccination required by the church. A private burial will take place immediately following the service. There will be a reception at The Mill Restaurant and Pub at 12:30pm.
A sincere thank you to the fire department, police and paramedics on-site and the incredible nurses, doctors and social workers at Northumberland Hills Hospital. The family is grateful that everyone did all that they could.
The outpouring of love, support and generosity from the community has been truly overwhelming and appreciated.

The land which present-day Cobourg occupies was previously inhabited by Mississauga (Anishinaabe-speaking) peoples.[3] The settlements that make up today's Cobourg were founded by United Empire Loyalists in 1798 within Northumberland County, Home District, Province of Upper Canada. Some of the founding fathers and early settlers were Eliud Nickerson, Joseph Ash, Zacheus Burnham and Asa Allworth Burnham. The Town was originally a group of smaller villages such as Amherst and Hardscrabble, which were later named Hamilton. In 1808 it became the district town for the Newcastle District. It was renamed Cobourg in 1818, in recognition of the marriage of Princess Charlotte Augusta of Wales to Prince Leopold of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld (later Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, who would later become King of Belgium).
