イスラエル首相「ファイザー製ワクチンの予防効果が、デルタ株には予想より弱い」

新型コロナウイルスワクチン接種の速度戦を通じて、日常復帰を目の前にしていた“防疫模範国”でも、伝播力の強いデルタ変異の拡散の勢いはつかめずにいる。

イスラエル保健省は7月17日、前日付けで1118人が新型コロナ検査で陽性反応を示し、この4ヵ月間で新規感染者が初めて1000人を超えたと明らかにした。イスラエルは3月19日（1047人）以来、1日の感染者数1000人以下を維持してきた。

イスラエルは約930万人の全人口の56％を占める522万人あまりが2回目の接種をすべて終えるなど、早いペースでワクチン接種を進めてきた。

しかし、デルタ型変異株の拡大を受け、最近の新規感染者の半分以上はワクチンを接種していながらも感染しており、重症患者の約60％もワクチンを接種済みだという。

これに先立ち16日、イスラエルのナフタリ・ベネット首相はコロナ対応閣議で、「ファイザー製ワクチンの予防効果がデルタ変異株には予想より弱い」と評価した。ただ、同日の閣議で現在治療中の感染者約6500人のうち重症患者は58人と少ない水準を維持していることから、人数制限などの措置はとらないとしている。

成人人口の67.5％が2回目のワクチン接種を終えた英国でも16日、5万4674人まで新規感染者数が増えた。アストラゼネカ製ワクチンを2回接種したザビード英保健相も「コロナ陽性判定を受けた」と明らかにした。

英国は、1日の死者数が5月末から二桁以下に低く維持されていることを理由に、19日から大半の防疫規制を解除する方針だ。
