Glen Campbell, superstar singer of 1960s and '70s, dies age 81... following courageous battle with Alzheimer's

Campbell's publicist Sandy Brokaw confirmed the singer died Tuesday morning in Nashville
Late star announced in June 2011 that he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and that it was in its early stages at that time
Campbell was one of the biggest stars of the late 1960s and 1970s.
He sold more than 45 million records, had 12 gold albums and 75 chart hits
Stars including Dolly Parton, Brian Wilson, and Sheryl Crow paid tribute to the music legend on Twitter

Glen Travis Campbell was born in Billstown, a tiny community near Delight in Pike County, Arkansas, to John Wesley (a sharecropper of Scottish ancestry) and Carrie Dell (Stone) Campbell.[3] He was the seventh son of 12 children.[4][5] He started playing guitar as a youth and credits his uncle Boo for teaching him the guitar.[6]
