ニューヨーク市を走行中の地下鉄車両内で、48歳の男性が銃で撃たれ死亡した事件に関連し、ニューヨーク市警察は、容疑者の写真を公開した。

事件は22日午前11時40分ごろ、マンハッタンのキャナル・ストリート駅方面に向かうQトレインで起きた。ニューヨーク市警察が発表した目撃者の証言によると、容疑者の男は、電車の最後尾の車両内を歩き回っていた。男は、マンハッタン・ブリッジを走行中に、銃を取り出し、座っていた乗客の男性の胸部に向けて、至近距離から発砲した。言い争いなどはなかったという。撃たれた男性は、病院に搬送され、死亡が確認された。

容疑者の男は、キャナル・ストリート駅で下車。現在も逃走を続けている。がっしりとした体格で、肌の色は暗く、ひげを生やしている。

ニューヨークポスト紙によると、死亡した男性は、ブルックリンのパークスロープ在住のダニエル・エンリケス（Daniel Enriquez）さん（48）。ゴールドマン・サックスの投資調査員だった。
遺族によると、エンリケスさんは、ブランチに出かける途中だった。姉妹のGriselda Vileさんは同紙に対し、「誰もこのような目に遭うべきではない」「最悪なのは、犯人が捕まったとしても、再び（拘置所から）出てくることだ」と述べ、ニューヨーク州の刑事司法制度を非難。アダムス市長に「この街は安全でないと伝えて欲しい」と語った。

ニューヨーク市では先月12日、ブルックリンのサンセットパークを走行中の電車内で、男が銃を乱射し、10人が撃たれる事件があった。事件を受け、エリック・アダムス市長は、地下鉄に金属探知器の導入を検討すると発表していた。
