【ニューヨーク共同】米ジョンズ・ホプキンズ大の集計によると、新型コロナウイルス感染症による米国の死者は2日、5600人に上り、感染者は23万4千人を超えた。感染が急増する東部ニューヨーク州のクオモ知事は記者会見で、備蓄している人工呼吸器が「あと6日で底を突く」と緊急支援を訴えた。
知事は感染のピークは「今後7日から30日の間」と指摘。州内で計1万6千人が死亡する可能性があると説明した。
州内の死者数は前日から4百人以上増えて2373人に上った。感染者は9万2381人で、ニューヨーク市が5万1809人と過半数を占めている。
