An FBI wanted poster describes Robert E. Crimo III as a thin White male with brown eyes and neck-length brown hair, weighing 120 pounds. The poster also describes his tattoos: "four tally marks with a line through them on his right cheek, red roses and green leaves on his neck, and cursive script above his left eyebrow."The poster describes him as "armed and dangerous."
Crimo is also known as "Awake the Rapper."
IMDB describes Crimo as a "six foot Hip hop phenom" born on Sept. 20, 2000. "He's the middle child of three and of Italian descent."
Crimo is the son of Bob Crimo, president at Bob's Pantry & Deli in Highland Park. According to his Facebook account, the father ran for Highland Park mayor in 2020.
The rapper released a cryptic track called "Are You Awake" on Oct. 15, 2021. The track appears to suggest that Crimo was planning a life-defining act beyond his ability to stop. The video includes drawings of a man aiming a rifle at another person.
The video also includes an image of a newspaper clipping about Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated President John F. Kennedy, and another image of a victim shot with blood spraying from the body.

Describe what you do/sell/serve: The biggest draw to the store is the deli. Fresh meats, cheeses and garnishes make our custom-made sandwiches a No. 1 seller. We also offer a wide variety of grocery, dairy items and ice cream novelties.
What sets you apart from similar businesses? The store offers a place not only for great food but great conversation as well in our seating area. This is a unique facet that you cannot find anywhere else but in a family-run and family-oriented store.
What made you want to open this type of store? I am a people person. Interpersonal interactions are extremely important to me, and this venue allows me to have those interactions while providing a unique service to Highland Park and the surrounding communities.
Why did you decide to open your business in Highland Park? Highland Park provides a safe, clean and supportive environment for family-oriented businesses to operate. Additionally, I was the owner of the White Hen Pantry in Ravinia for over 18 years.
Why did you pick this specific location/storefront? The availability, close spatial proximity to Ravinia Festival and the Braeside Metra station were three major factors. I also wanted to continue to provide a convenience store service to the loyal customers of Highland Park.

On August 11, 2006, , Inc. was purchased by Seven & I Holdings Co., Japan's No. 1 retailer and the operator of 7-Eleven convenience stores in the United States.[7] White Hen CEO Brandon Barnholt cited the merger as a great opportunity for the company, its franchisers and its customers. In the months following the acquisition, White Hen stores continued to function as they had.[8]
In July 2007, some White Hen stores began to be converted to 7-Eleven stores. Eventually, the White Hen name disappeared from the converted stores, having been replaced with the 7-Eleven branding. The White Hen logo continued for a time to be used for some prepared foods such as sandwiches, under the "Pantry Select" brand. Deli counters and products were removed and replaced with standard 7-Eleven offerings.
In October 2013, a White Hen Pantry store located in Boston, Massachusetts closed, preparing for a conversion to 7-Eleven.[9]
Controversy
In 2007, an employee in a Boston area store was fired after she announced her pregnancy. The terminated employee filed suit for sex discrimination. The employee claimed that after telling her employer of her pregnancy, he became unfriendly, as well as demanding towards her, and gave her increasingly more work. The owner's credibility was severely compromised when he gave contradictory testimony about the employee's performance.
Additional testimony alleged that the owner refused to consider applicants for employment if they came into the store with small children. The terminated employee was awarded $9,471.00 in back pay, as well as $20,000.00 in damages for emotional distress.[10]
